Event 3 - Hammer Museum
I went to the Hammer Museum on Wilshire for my third and final event. Unfortunately, the day I went many of the exhibitions were being renovated or installed. Due to this, I was only able to really view one of the pieces of art. This piece of work was from Laura Schnitger and was titled "I was here". The piece was installed as a project created specifically for the museum. The project in reference was the UCLA Hammer Museum's Kids' Art Project 2019. The piece was made up of thousands of sequins. Each sequin was double sided, with different shades and shines on either side. Each colour of sequin was squared off together. The project exemplifies hands-on art. The concept was that you are supposed to go up to the piece and run your hands over it, creating patterns or drawing images and words.
